Is there a clear coat that can be applied over oil base TSC tractor paint? If so what have you used that works? Thanks Terry

I have used the TSC hardener made by Valspar mixed into Ace Hdwe Rust Stop paint which is alkyd enamel.
I paint day one and day 2 scuff with fine scotch brite pad for mechanical grip and spray second coad of paint.
Day three I scuff again and clear with Marhyde urethane clear.Day 4 I scuff again and spray second coat of clear. The clear really makes a difference as to shine. Some times I color sand the clear for even better shine . I have a test panel painted thes way out side for 7 years and it looks as good as it ever did. This is on tin work. I have not tried the scuffing on cast parts. I spray out side due to health risks re the hardener. I do wear a charcoal filter mask.

That's funny Terry, I was thinking about EXACTLY the same thing! I re-painted my TO Hood this Spring with TSC paint, left over from last years full paint job. I scrathed up my hood pretty good, and dented it a little.... trying to squeeze thru a couple tight spots during my 1st Bush Hogging of the season... didn't make it thru one of them. Had to do some body work and re-painted the hood. Installed new headlights, so needed to do some painting anyway to make everything match.

After a Summer of sitting outside and driving thru brush... it's showing some scratch marks already, and I'm sure will start losing that "wet-look" shine before long.

Once the paint is cured good, I don't see any reason that just about any clear coat wouldn't work. I was looking at some clear coat the other day at the Auto Parts store...
I'm threatening to wash and wax the Fergy this weekend, I guess I better decide if clearcoat is worth it before I wax'er down.
George
