I have a 20 for sale and a gentleman stopped to look at it and decided that he did not want it after talking to a mechanic. Seems said mechanic says that the 20"s have a problem with the heads rusting out and cracking. This tractor runs perfect, but I"m not one to take someone. Is this true? Thanks

It would be good to inquire who the mechanic is as you wouldn't want him near any of your tractors. lol

I echo way has been said. Blocks can crack do to over heating, or freezing. Both have a root cause of owner neglect.

Under normal operation they will last at least 50 year and more.... Ohh that's why there are still so many being used today.

Utter hog wash - I've never even heard that rumor before.

Sounds like the mechanic just don't like Fergusons.

TO's have gotten a bit of bad publicity for having cracked blocks, but those are due to being abused, ie. left to freeze, or run low on coolant and cooked. Any engine so abused will do the same.

BEWILDERED, I am a new Ferguson TO-20 owner and have done much reasearch on this Tractor. I have ran across nothing that would lead me to believe there is a rust problem as the Mechanic Indicated...May Be JOHN from UK will post a reply about his findings.....Thanks For Your Info

No I have never heard that one before, as was said earlier maybe the guy doesn't like Ferguson's may be one of the Ford fraternity not forgiven Harry Ferguson for suing Henry Ford.

we purchased new a TE-20 and a TO-30 And never had a problem with cracked heads or blocks. We used the TE for about 15 years and the TO for 50 years.

Only thru neglect or abuse will these engines end up with cracked vlocks or heads.
