Hi I am putting my engine back together and am wondering if you need to index the part of the governor that has the shaft that slides into the camshaft. It covers the ballbearings and has a small square tap which faces the timing cover. I don't want to damage the bumper spring or have to take everything apart. Anyone known about this. 1955 TO35 with Continetal Z134 gas and ballbearing style governor. Thanks..... Richard

Just put the cover back on, no need to do anything.

If you have had the throttle linkage apart you will need to reset the engine governor linkage. If you need the information, email me at:-
fergusontractors at tiscali dot co dot uk
telling me again what you need.

I just did this on the same tractor. If I remember it goes in the 2 o"clock or maybe the 10 o"clock position. The arm on the cover rests on it.

Hi John and George, Thanks for the replies. John you were kind enough to send me the setup instructions earlier which I printed and stored. I reread the manual when I was more awake and it states to set the tab at aprox 8 oclock position. Upon further insection of my asembley I elected to replace it with a new one from this site. My ballbearings would not stay captured and the driver was lose on the backing plate. Too much work to remove if bad verses replacing. So tractor waits for parts and 1949 GMC 450 Truck gets some wrench time. Have a Happy..... ..... .....RRF

When you get the governor the instructions will tell you to point an arrow up wich will put it at 2 o"clock, I dont know why.

Sometimes the information given with distributors want you to look at the drive from the drive end (upside down) and that will make it 2 o' clock position.
