Princess Auto has Ford 8N exhaust systems for $15.00 CDN and I couldn't resist today. I understand from a previous post that the unit won't fit a TEA20 without some modifications.

All that's wrong with the existing unit is that the exhaust is very loud and I fear sparks in the woodlot.

So where should I cut and what sort of patch do I need to join the two halves?

Thanks,

Rod

I've got one of the Princess Auto mufflers on my Fergie also... cut the pipe just after the elboe on both and forced them tegether, no clamps

Rod, I too was worried about sparks in the woodlot so I bought a cast elbow from Eastern Farm Supply and turned my exhaust into a vertical setup. Then all you need is the muffler body not the whole assembly. Goodluck, Neil.

Morning Rod
That princess auto is somthing else, I was in Oshawa last week and stopped into the one there. Its amazzing what they have and at very resonable prices to say the least. Is there one in Smiths Falls or do you have to travel to Ottawa? As always, a pleasure to hear from you. Barry

I make occasional pilgimages to Ottawa, but often order by email from a fishing buddy who goes there at lunch every second Tuesday (sale day). For some items I order online from Winnipeg. The savings in taxes more than offset the shipping cost and there are no limits on scarce items.

This last trip I picked up a 3/4" socket set for $54 CDN (way better price than eBay) and a HVLP paint sprayer for forty or fifty dollars -- I can't remember which. It's always an interesting place.

I simply took the dimension of my old muffler on my TEA20, went to Princess Auto, and found a muffler that looked the same and was the right size and slipped it on. I don't know what the muffler was intended for that I bought, but it sure looks and sounds good.

You could get a muffler shop to expand the end of the Princess Auto muffler so that it'll fit over the downpipe of your original muffler, presuming that part is Ok. Then you just put a U-clamp on it. You probably only need enough space to get the clamp on.

I have one of those on mine. I welded the flange from the original TEA system onto the top of the Ford one, and it bolted up nicely.

Both systems seem to be 1 1/2" pipe, but they're not alike enough to try to install it as manufactured. I thought I'd look at CTC for something that would allow me to make a joint with clamps just before the floorboard.

(I don't weld yet. Lots of woodworking tools, but nothing for metal.)
