Last fall the clutch on my 1950 TEA20 would no longer disengage. I just got the clutch out this afternoon and discovered that someone had forgotten to put the S-shaped clip in the end of one of the clutch finger pins, allowing the pin to work its way out! This meant that the clutch wouldn't disengage on 1 of the 3 fingers. Luckily, the pin didn't travel any further than just far enough to let go of the finger.

Question: What to use for a new clip? Some hard wire?

While I have it apart, it's getting new bearings, a new friction plate and new seals. The old clutch doesn't look worn in the least, which is too bad, but I'll just clean it up and put it away in a box until someone needs it. :)

Question: For the rear engine seal, do I need to drain some of the oil? How about for the front transmission seal? I was planning on lowering the levels in both areas, but am curious as to whether it's required.

Mike. Might I make a suggestion.
I can't tell from the Parts Manual what the end of the pin looks like. If you can send me a pic of the pin I might have a solution for you.

The pin is a simple pin with a head at one end and a small hole drilled at the other.

There is a small piece of wire in the other two, that's bent link in the picture I've attached.

Mike.
It takes a 3/32 x 1/2 inch cotter pin in the end and that's it. By the look of the pic I would say that whoever had the pin out last time probably massacred it when pulling out, couldn't reshape it to a proper looking cotteer pin and then just went the route.
Hope that helps
