TEA20 starts and runs, but misses considerably unless the choke is pulled out about 1/2-3/4 inch. Soooo.... need the cliff's notes version of carb adjustment. Stan

holcomb..,
Could be a carb problem, but sounds like a classic weak ignition problem. A fuel-rich air mix ignites better than normal air mixture. I recommend a 2 pronged approach. Check your carb, but also check your ignition. Should get a nice blue, zappy spark, not a thin, orange spark. I'm not familiar with the Standard engines, can't really give you any details on your carb adjusting. Double check your point gap, if they are too close, you'll lose spark output.

That is quite normal, after warmed up does it do the same like needing the choke to keep running ?

Thank for the replies. Yes, in order for it to run smoothly it has to have the choke out about a half inch or more. It was run around a fair amount on the 4th and playing with it and driving it back up from a trip to the rear of our place is when I noticed playing with the choke smoothed it out. It was warm, had run a half hour or so I would guess. Stan

Maybe these blow apart diagrammes will help - assuming you have the Zenith 24T2 carb
