Gasahol vapor-locks a lot easier. You also might have damage in your carburetor causing it to run too lean at an idle. Do you have an electric fuel pump problem? Is there a fuel pump relay that's acting up? Is the airconditioner compressor jamming somehow?

I beleive that model has a computer in the air cleaner that adjusts the mixture and the idle vacumm advance in the distributer solinod. I had one that acted the same way and I could never fix the computer problem. I finally got a distributer from an older Chrysler V8 and installed it.
