I just got a used Woods mower and I want to tip up the mower deck to sharpen the blades. I can't get the univeral coupler off the mower drive shaft. I pushed the spring collar back and tried to slide the univeral coupler off but all it does is move just a little each way. Are there pins or balls that are suppose to snap out of a groove? I am looking at the manual and can't figure it out. HELP!!

Do you have a 1-3/8 to 1-1/8 adapter on the PTO that you are calling a "universal adapter"? If so, it is held on by a roll pin that has to be driven out.

I don't know what you mean by "universal coupler". Are you talking about that part of the mower PTO shaft the attaches to the tractor PTO shaft? If so, there is usually a little button that you press on (it moves a little shaft that's in a groove on the tractor PTO shaft)and then you pull the mower shaft off the tractor PTO shaft. You have to pull straight back to get it off. Hope this helps.
