I am restoring a 1955 TO 35 with the z134 Continental 4cyl gas engine. Prior to tear down I was unable to get the governor to pick up the rpms when the engine lugged down. I have the factory manual and carefully went thru the set up and adjustment procedures to no avail. I now have the engine apart and am suspect of the leaf spring that acts as a dampener which is attached to the timing cover. Have you ever seen this spring and or know of any spec for it. I think that someone might have run the adjuster in too far and deformed the spring causing the governor not to have full range of travel. Seeing this is a big job (front end and timing cover removal I would like it to be correct the first time I put it together. Any thoughts..... ..... ..... .....Thank you Richard F
