Blue TO-30 ?

I have a TO-30 that has been painted what I would call a medium blue at some point with yellow wheels.

Now underneath the blue is the regular grey.

I thought that this was just someone's idea of a nice color scheme but I bought a used oil pan from someone in Virginia and is was also blue.

I was told that my tractor once belonged to the state ( NC ) . My Grandfather had an AC that had belonged to the state and it was also blue but it was a much deeper blue.

Have any of you guys seen anything like that ?

Just curious !

I have a TO-30 that came from PA and it has what appears to be yellow as original paint. I assume it was used by a municipality or school system. It had a loader on it in an earlier life, as the front pully was set up for a loader and the bottom of the grill was removed, so I'm guessing it was used for parking lot snow removal or some such. I know the deep blue that NC once used for some highway machinery, and if yours is not that deep blue then I suspect that isn't why yours is blue. Probably, as others said, someone had some Ford blue paint, etc., and used what they had rather than getting correct color. No idea on oil pan situation.

Far as I know, Ferguson's machine grey was the only factory color for 20's and 30's. I've heard some say that Ferguson dealers would do custom paint jobs on new tractors if the new owners specified it. I've seen just about every color in the rainbow on old Fergie's too.

My TO-30 was painted blue when I bought it. It had a Dearborn loader on it and the whole thing was painted Ford Blue. I have seen all sorts of color combinations on the gray Fergusons. Most people just don't have an appreciation for Ferguson Gray. I will admit that an 8N Ford is pretty. And the Red and Gray Massey Fergusons are pretty but the real Ferguson lover loves the color gray.It just gets in the blood.
