Cam Bearings

I keep seeing cam bearings for the Z120 engine. I thought the cam just ran on machined surfaces in the block. Does anyone know about this? I would like to have all the parts together for a rebuild before I rip the thing apart. I don"t see anything in the repair manual that mentions cam bearings.

Thanks.
Oldgit

Z120 cam runs direct in block. If there's damage or wear (mine was worn 5 thou) you'll have to machine block to accept bearings - if you can find any to fit. I turned mine out of bronze.

I am in the process of a rebuild and am certain the manual states the cam runs on machined surfaces in the block. I took the camshaft out had the cracked block fixed and just put it right back in. there doesn't seem to be any adverse play and it spins easily enough. my sticking point seems to be the rod bushings...

I bbelieve the cam bearings are machined in the block. The after market bearing suppliers come up with bearings for worn out blocks to fulfil a need. TO Fergy's don't have a killer oil system and need all the help they can get to oil the rockers.

Not sure about your engine, but most engine have cam bearings. They have to be pressed in or pressed out of the block. Will need to take it to a machine shop for replacement or removal
