Last week we got hit with 14" of snow and sleet. I got out the MF-65 and the 7' blade and made short work of clearing off the drive. Even in 5 deg (-15C) temp. she started right up. (with a little squirt of ether :) ) Traction was the biggest problem. But once I got a clear path I could take the next 2 foot cut and had a great time doint it.

My neighbor could not get his diesel MF backhoe started.

Happy holidays to all.

A couple of thoughts come to mind.

Don't set the blade all the way down - Carry the weight a bit on the 3 point. That will give you more weight over the rear wheels.

Get a heavier blade if you can. The heaviest one you can pick up and still keep the front wheels on the ground is about right. (-:

Plow downhill only if you're on a sloped drive. That way the weight of the tractor is working for you instead of against you.

Tire chains make a *HUGE* difference in how much traction you have. But they're expensive and a pain to put on.

Sure beats shovelling, huh?

No chains, Flat terrain, and only one tire filled with CaCl. Hey that's the way I got it. The Problem I had was the ititial path. A 7 foot blade plies a lot of snow up quick and at thoes temps it was hard. After I got that initial path the removal went very well. Biggest problem as then digging in and creating a pot hole in my gravel drive.

But now a week later this is all moot... as everything is melted away. If you don't like the weather just wait 24 hours.
