I just got a 2-bottom Ferguson plow. There"s no ID tag on it. Searching the archives it matches pics & descriptions of the 14-AO"s. The mouldboards have "14R-AO-112" stamped on them.

2 questions: What is the difference between the 14R & 14A bottoms? What is the difference between a AO-28 & AO-40 plow?

Thanks,
Jeff

I will give this my best shot. The ao-28 was shipped to the dealers with moldboards and shares. The ao-40 was not then the dealer installed what the customer wanted. The 'R' means it is a general purpose share. I could not find anything on an 'A'. Maybe Scott in PA. will step in with his wealth of knowledge.

Thanks for the input!

Someone chimed in on the implement forum & said the type-R share superceded the general purpose type-A after 1947.
