Had the head on my 1950 To-20 rebuilt. They found cracks from one head bolt to the next in two locations.Had it welded buy a very good shop because they where not under the valve cover but on the outside bolts. Put it back Sat. started right up but now I have antifreeze seeping up under the valve springs of the number 2 cyclinder, both intake and exaust. I did replace all the seals and use sealant and proper torque (70 to 75) on the head bolts. Any help are am I just going to have to replace the head and the money was waisted?

Steve, you have little to lose by retorquing the head, throwing in some stop leak and trying it.
I wouldn't think you wasted your $$$ either... If you feel you gotta pull the head, I'd recommend having the same machine shop take another look at it (might get some warranty work, check for warp) and just try a new head gasket and bolt'er down again. Don't know how many times I've heard guys that had a leaking head gasket after a rebuild and had to replace it.
good luck.

All is not lost. Firstly anti-freeze will find a leak if there is one to be found - even a very small one.

Secondly, you should re-torque the head now it has run for a while - and be prepared to do this again and again after running for a time until all bolts and the head gasket have settled. The leak may be due to seepage past the head gasket, leaks paths are strange things. Although to leak where you describe sounds like a leak via the valve guide - not a big problem, and not a new head job, either. So you haven't wasted your $ yet.

Third thing I can think of is that if the leak is very minor (and after you have tried the above) then you could add some Bars-Leaks or similar to see if you can cure it that way. OK so it isn't ideal, but it might work.

Also, you didn't use sealer on the head gasket, did you? If you did, that could also be a source of the problem. I never use sealer on head gaskets - just let them settle in the way they want to. Engines always used to do well without sealer, and if the assembly is done right, they don't need it. JMHO.

Good luck
