I bought an exhaust system for mt TO20. Was supposed to be a "perfect fit"...yeah right! The muffler to clamp connection was 3 inches off and the 90 degree bend going up "vertical" to the flange was at least an inch short, causing the muffler to be pushed up under the right footboard.
What I did was cut the top of the muffler pipe where it connects to the manifold flange about four inches down the gooseneck. I then welded the 4 inch piece of pipe to the "removable manifold flange using nickel rods. Mounted it back on the manifold, reinstalled my muffler "exactly" where it should be and went to NAPA and bought a piece of inch and a half FLEX EXHAUST and 2 clamps. By doing this, I eliminated
the flange clamp that never seals right.. and with the flex exhaust, any engine vibrations are absorbed by the flex exhaust and not the manifold.
This works out real well and the flex exhaust is pretty cheap. One other thing..... .after putting my tractor back together replacing a governor, camshaft nut, and distributer I didn't have the power or RPMs I should have had. After looking at everything under the sun, it ended up being a BRAND NEW DEFECTIVE CONDENSER in the distributer. I would have never guest it.... goes to show, sometimes it's the little things.
Have a great weekend,

Nick

Condensers are notorious for the problems they can cause and as you have found out even a new one can give trouble. It's not just aftermarket parts that suffer from this, even genuine ones have the same problems. No excuse for the exhaust though to be such a pain.

I also went thru this exhaust pipe mess 2 year ago. Having a TE20, learned one thing very quickly, the original TE20 exhaust manifold requires a different exhaust pipe than a TO20. Ordered the proper pipe with it's different bend from local Massey dealer, who purchased it from Sparex USA, who purchased it from Sparex UK. Pipe cost me 80 Bucks and in the end was worth the cost, it fit properly and was much thicker walled then the Eastern made junk that is for the TO20. Pete Lipps

I also need to purchase a manifold for a 1950 Ferguson TO20. Where did you get your exhaust parts as I want to stay away from that company.
Who do you recommend a place that I can get a manifold. I what it to look like the original manifold. Thanks

You may purchase an original one piece muffler from any MF farm tractor dealership. Our local Ford/New Holland dealership also carries both "original" mufflers, for Harry Ferguson and Ford tractors. They are slightly different, one has a slight bend about 4" below the flange(H.Ferguson), and the other(Ford) is straight at that same point and shorter.
