My terrain is very hilly-steep in some places. I need the tractor to stick. I will be feeding 5x5 round bales this winter and I am sure it will rear up on the front end. I could fill the tires with methanol or maybe hook some weight to the front bumper. Any other alternatives or good ideas out there? Jay

I feed 5x6 bales (weigh upwards of 1800 lbs) with a Ford 2000. Made a basket that mounts to the front axle like a front bumper/grille attaches and fill with about 6 solid concrete blocks. When not hayin just take the blocks out and makes empty tractor steering easier.

If you have a problem, you can back up a hill whereas going forward up it can cause your front end to raise, and in a crunch, I have steered with my brakes. Sure makes steering easy....like it had power steering.

Take it easy and you'll be ok. Stay off side rolling. Run up and down the hill.

The bale is so big that even if you did tip over backwards, all you'd hurt would be your pride. And you can always let your lift down which will let the tractor (front)back down to earth.

I have a to20 and that was light in the front end. I could not find a set of front wheel weights so a buddy of mine made me a set. they made a big differnce

I don't know what your 5x5 round bales weigh but around here those bales would weigh around a 1000 pounds. Your hydraulics on a TO-30 are good for about 750 pounds. I think you have the wrong tractor for feeding round bales, with or without weights.

If you put weights right on the wheels, then the bearings and front axle pivot won't be carrying the weight as they would if you used a bumper.
