I need to replace the rear grease seal on my Ferguson 40 PTO. I know on a 30 you drive it in a ditch or somehow raise the rear to preserve the fluid, put the PTO in gear, and you can unbolt and pull the PTO shaft from the rear and replace the seal. Is it any different on the 40? Any tips? Thanks for any help.

Nope, no different, it is the same.

I found a 2" sch-40 PVC coupler fitting is the perfect diameter to seat the new seal in the seal housing.

After you drive the old seal out. Fit the new seal in and drive flush with a board and vise. Then use the coupler and vise to seat the seal.

a 1 1/2" PVC pipe is pretty good to drive out the old seal.
