My 23C has kept blowing out the copper washer that seat the injectors. Have replaced them several times. I was told I could replace them with stainless steel. Will this be alright??

If they make a seal, they will be fine, Copper was used to allow a seal to be formed as you tighten it up, stainless st
eel wont do that....but you should perhaps try to find out why the washers keep blowing, maybe there is a load of crap in the hole not allowing it to seat properley or the seat is damaged, this engine wasn't renowned for blowing these washers....But there was a modification to them, it involved a smaller washer that protected the injector nozzle, this was fitted into the hole first and the injector was tightened down in the normal way onto the big washer but the new washer protected the nozzle and prevented any heat getting up to the big washer, we used to fit them to all 23c injectors in service. Now whether you can still get these I don't know, it was a small washer that was a double layer so it would compress. It was about the size of a small shirt button.(How technical is that..lol)Perhaps your local diesel fuel injection specialist could help

The seats around the hole where the injector goes have small chips around them that is where the pressure is seapping through. I have to try something this promblem is driving me crazy. I was told they use stainless washers on brake system to seal joints and was told that they would work for this?? Any Ideas

The seats require replacing, parts were available to do this, maybe you should try your local MF dealer. Ask for the injector seats and sealing washers for a 23c engine. Post again of you dont have any luck. If you want the illustration from the parts list , mail me at fergusontractors at hotmail dot com
