Exhaust...

Just a quick question, and I'll admit I haven't done a lot of research yet, but figured you folks here could point me in the right direction quicker than I'll find anything on my own! My '57 Ferguson 35 has the exhaust and muffler running out the bottom and back between the wheels. I have a lot (I mean a LOT!) of overgrown areas that I'm still contending with (moved to the country 3-4 months ago, and I have 26 acres of overgrown weeds!). I'm thinking that hot muffler with some of these weeds is a fire hazard waiting to happen. Where can I look for an adapter or elbow to run it up and out the top like you see on so many other tractors?
Thanks for any help gang!
Dana

You don't say what engine you have in your tractor if it's a Continental you may have a problem as it doesn't have a proper mounting flange on the manifold so it may be difficult to fit an upswept exhaust even if you could get one. Some of the guys on here will tell you how to get round that one I am sure. If it's a Diesel engine you will have no problem getting an exhaust like you need. Yes it is dangerous if you are working in overgrown weeds like you say, they had a lot of problems in Australia with that one.

The factory style elbows should be readily available new or used. MF dealer might have it in stock, tractor supply store could order it, salvage yard.
