Greetings:

On a recent trip to western NY our friend showed us an old tractor and I agreed to do some internet research to try to determine its value.

The placard said "Harry Ferguson, Incorporated"
The sn is 104349.

My confusion arises from the fact that the ytmag serial number data shows 3 models which have a sn within this range:

Ford Ferguson year 1942 (sn92363) to 1943 (sn197755)

TE-20 year 1949 (sn77773) to 1950 (sn116551)

TO-30 year 1952 (sn72680) to 1953 (sn108645)

I have a photograph. Will that help you help me?

Sincerely,

Phil McClurg

Hi Phil...The ser. # should have a prefix of to or te., thereby you can determine the year. Also the to should have a Continental engine the te should have a standard engine. Forget numbers for Ford since your tag says Harry Ferguson inc. Good luck, have fun!! Mike

Hi Mike,

The Harry Ferguson, Inc tractor serial number does have the "TO" in front of the serial number:

TO-104349

Please advise where should I tell the Owner where to look in order for her to determine if the engine is Continental or standard.

Is "standard" a brand name, or are you using the word as a common description?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Phil...Should be a 1952 to30 with a Continental engine. Engine plate on the lower left of engine. Standard is the English engine built by Standard motors. I associate te with tractor England, and to with tractor overseas. Both are very good and price and value range greatly, say from $800.00 to $3000.00 plus depending on condition. This an excellent site to learn more for the owner. Have her look over all the related sites. Good luck, have fun!!
