My TO-20 sat is a barn for about 10 years before I got her. I have her running very well right now. I notice the coolant in the system right now is nasty. Would it be wise to to a flush with those chemical cleaners? Or should I just flush with new coolant? I have hear bad things about using chemicals in old systems. Thanks for any help.

Hi,SJB. I would just take off the hoses, put a garden hose in the top and flush down through the engine out the bottom. Do the same with the rad, and then put new coolant in.

I second that! I usually just refill the radiator with water, run to operating temp, drain, about 3 times. A friend who owns a radiator shop says the cleaners make him several thousand dollars each year, by replacing cores eaten up by the OTC cleaning products. The cleaner will run down a clogged passage, and just lay there(nowhere to go) and eat away the metal.
