Hello all,I am a newbie to tractors and diesel motors in general. I have a '59 FE-35 with the Standard 23C engine that has been running well all winter (just got it in late Nvember). Today, after rough cutting with a PTO driven rotary cutter, for about 1.5 hours, I idled down the engine from about 1600 rpm (I think the corresponding engine speed for PTO operation)to disengage the PTO when the engine stalled. A few minutes prior to stopping, the engine seemed rougher than normal and was starting to blow a whitish grey smoke. No attempts to re-start would work until things cooled down for a couple of hours. When it did re-start, it was very hard starting, requiring a gentle hand on the throttle to keep it from stalling out again, while slowly giving more fuel to get the RPMs up. It was still smoking the grey white stuff, and feeling rough. The exhaust note was not quite as 'mellow' as usual either. I checked all the fluid levels and conditions, all seems normal and the block was not overly hot to the touch. Could this be an injector issue being plugged up? Secondary question, after getting the tractor, I noticed the Tractor-Meter was not reading at all. Replaced the gear drive and the cable, ended up having to disassemble the meter and un-seize it as well. Now everything turns, but the tractor meter only reads about 1/2 of the what the rev's actually are. The MF dealer insists I have the correct parts, and they do seem to match up to what was there originally. Whether they were the correct ones to begin with? I don't know. Has anyone else seen anything like this? Any insights to the deisel issue in particular would be greatly appreciated! Wonderful site, and I am learning lots. Thanks in advance, Mike
