I am a proud owner of my first tractor and am having fun learning the ins and outs of the older machines. I am having trouble with the charging system and have been studying the schematic for my tractor. In the manual I have a schematic for both the TO and TE are included. It looks to me that the tractor I have is wired as a TE with all the parts of a TO. It also shows a positive ground and my battery is hooked up as a neg ground. It is a 6volt battery. I am ready to wire per the TO schematic. Any advise?

To tell you if I was not going to restore the tractor I would go with 12 volt and an alternator on a rewire.

My to-20 I converted to 12 volt negative ground. It was easy and cheap. If you stay with 6 volt be sure to have the big battery cables these are a must. Be sure to use postive ground and to energize the system when finished. The archives have a wealth of info if you have any problems
