I just put a temp gauge in my TO-20 and it is more trouble than it looks like it should be. My gauge is the capillary, not electric, type. The bulb was too long to fit into the neck. Also, there are thread problems, you have pipe threads and standard machine (fine and coarse) threads plus another thread used on hydraulic lines. These look similar but are not. I did finally find an adapter that had what was needed to fit into the neck, then put another adapter into that so I could mount the bulb. This was still not an ideal solution because the bulb does not stick out into the coolant flow. I found it either stuck in too far so I could not tighten it in, or using adapters to space it out, it was too far out away from the flow. Some people have said they found just what they needed for a direct bolt in a Walmart, but mine said they did not carry them. Others have said that they retapped the hole to accept the type of thread that came with the adapters in with their gauge. Take the little plug that is in the neck with you when you go to look for adapters along with the gauge itself. I had to find a speciality place dealing with AC, gas lines and hydraulic fittings to get what I needed. I would also spend some time looking for a guage that will fit....bulb sizes are different and different types of adapters come with the gauges. Some will be better than others. so....good luck
