A manufacturer has been found who is prepared to fabricate high quality replicas of Ferguson F-40 grill panels and center access doors. Engineering has been completed and prototype units have already been made. Prices will depend upon how large a market exists. If you are interested, contact either of the following immediately.

Joe Burk at 618-755-4733 or

This is great news for anyone restoring a F40. Another item in short supply is the lower grill panel or "chin" that is just below the two front grill panels and center door. Let's lobby for replicas of those as well

An after-market reinforced fiberglass lower grill panel (for under the F-40 radiator and sometimes called the chin piece) is already available. It was designed for the early UK-built MF 65 but fits the F-40 perfectly. The only difference is that this chin piece has a crank hole that can easily be filled for use on the F-40, which has no hole.

It sells for ₤45 (about $83) and is available from:

Paul,

Thanks for the info. A comment on the F40 "chin". When I redid my F40, I discovered that the lower grill panel had a knock-out for a crank hole. This makes sense because the fanbelt pulleys on the F40 have notches for a crank. Now I'm curious, do only some F40s have the knock-out in the lower grill panel or did they all? Any idea?

Joe,

I was unaware that the chin piece had a knock-out hole for the crank. I've never excamined mine that closely. I'll do so today. One never stops learning something new. Thanks for the info.

Paul,

Let us know what you find. The knockout on mine was not at all obvious from the outside, at least I never noticed it. It wasn't until we took the panel off and started pounding on to straighten out some dents that it showed up.

Interested? Yes. How about fabricating the numbers 40 for the top of the grill?

Ken,

This outfit is not planning a TO-30 grill but there is another outfit on the east coast that is making plans to do a grill for the 30s. I'll post the information as soon as I receive the information. It may be a few weeks. Right now they are doing the engineering and pre-production work.

Ervin Nolt has just received as of this week an almost flawless to-30 grill to be used as a pattern. He said it could be up to 6 months before there are grills in production. This will be great because I know there are many to-20&30 owners out there needing a new grill. That includes me. I guess after 50 years what will 6 more months be.
