I have a TO20 needless to say the brakes a less than great. I am thinking about getting a 135, 165 or a 175 are the brakes better, are they hydrolic instead of mechanical? Thanks for the info

The 135 has the same brakes as the 20. The early 4 cylinder tractors have dry internal brakes which are not the best, especially if you get an oil leak or they sieze solid on their splines. The later ones have wet internal brakes which are great.

The TO20/TO30/MF135 brake shoes will stop the tractor quite well if properly cared for. My TO30 will slide the rear wheels on any type of surface normally encountered by a tractor. My MF135 will do the same. The internal wet brakes on my MF165 are somewhat harder to lock up, but will if needed. I can lock an individual wheel on any of my tractors when needed. This is not bragging, just stating a fact. Removing loaded rear wheels to work on the brake shoes is not an easy task, perhaps that is why so many say the brakes are weak
