I`m green to the Ferguson tractor. I bought a TO-20 a couple of months back and now I`m about ready to paint. I`m debating on what color to paint it. 2/3 of me wants to paint it politically correct and the other 1/3 of me whats to paint it Mopar plum crazy purple on the iron and canary yellow on the sheet metal. What do you think, think people would be offended? RT

Morning R.T.
I own a 1952 TEA-20 and when I painted it myself. I went to my local Tractor Supply Center (TSC) for short here in Ontario. They have a good selection of paint. I picked Ferguson Metalic Grey not knowing there was a difference from just the plain old Ferguson Grey. I took to quaters home and with paint brush in hand, she went from dull to simply divine in about 2 hours. At the risk of getting my head chewed off here. Im NOT a purest when it comes to my little Fergy, I use here everyday to either plow snow, in the winter of course, summer I bush-hog with her and haul trees out of the woods to be cut up for firewood. When I put her away for the day I always give her at pat on her hood and tell her good job. Colour means nothing to me at all. So have fun

R.T. The wonderful thing about ownership is that you are free to do whatever you want to what. All that is necessary is that you accept the fact that others may not share your creativity to the same degree. They more than you will establish the value should you ever try to sell. Tractors are always more valuable as they approach original condition, but paint is but one variable. If you want it "Barbie pink", its your choice. If you want it original paint, I'm sure many readers here will direct you to correct paint codes, and processes.

To each there own, but personally I'd paint it any color that makes you happy. I get tired of seeing all the politically correct tractors. I own a MF65, pumpkin orange with dark green rims.

Rustoleum smoke grey is a pretty good match for original color. You can paint it anything you want but it lessens the value to paint it something different than grey. If you do paint it purple and yellow I would like to see a picture of it.

I don't think plum crazy and canary yellow would go together that well. But if you're green....I guess nobody would notice the tractor!

You can paint it green with pink polkadots if you like ,but if you want to paint it right your local MF dealer will have the right paint, aleast mind did when I did my ferguson. Remember what ever paint you choose it still doesn't make the tractor run any better. Good luck !

Thanks, guys for the paint info especially the paint numbers. Canary yellow might not be the right shade. My brotherinlaw picked it out for his hot rod. The car does look good. If I decide to paint it that I`ll try to post a picture. Thanks,RT
