1952 TO-30 excitement

1) I paid $2,500 - was this fair? Overall condition very good, hydraulics good, tin good, has rear scraper, snow bucket, fork lift setup, recent 12v conversion.

2) Is leaving it outside okay? I see so many tractors left out over the winter and wonder if it's no big deal, or the owners are not taking good care.

3) Would like to connect with interested TO-30 owners, organizations in NH/ME.

I am on the board of FENA - The Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America. We have about 400 members spread throughout the country. We put out a great newsletter 5 times per year. We also hold an expo each year. 2001 Waverly Nebraska, 2002 Salem, IL, 2003 Mt. Pleasant, IA and in 2004 it will be in NE Ohio - Ashtabula area. We have at least 5 members from NH. Our club is devoted only to Ferguson from Ford/Ferg through the F-40's that stopped production in 1957. The majority of our group has TO-20's, TO-30's and TO-35's due to the large numbers produced. Our members have all kind of Ferguson's including those made in England. My interest stems from my father being a dealer starting in 1950 and from using them extensively on farms in the 50's and 60's. To answer your question about leaving them out - My tractor was always outside (4 yrs.) until I got it. It didn't seem to bother it any. Perpetual sunlight may rot the tires faster though. I would suggest changing the fluids as soon as you can. Mine had what looked like the original fluid in the trans/axle/hydraulics. Yes they all share the same fluid -- 80wt mineral oil. Give that puppy a workout to free up all the junk and get the old stuff warm then let it drain over night. It holds 24 quarts. Have fun with it. good luck.
