How many Ferguson 40s were produced? My Hotline guide only gives beginning #s. Is there a breakdown as to how many row crops, standards etc were produced? I just picked one up at an auction over the weekend. It's a row crop with ser # RGM 402326 which makes it a 56. Anybody know where I could get the 40 emblem that goes on the front of the grill and a straight set of grill screens?

Greg,

I have a SN list produced by M-H-F, showing the following:

1956: 400001 - 403670 1958: 403671 - 409097

There is no known data showing how many of each chassis configuration were made.

To find a "40" for the air intake grill, you have to start calling tractor salvage yards. If you will give me your e-mail address, I will send you a list of salvage yards. Grill pieces and center access doors are extremely difficult to find. Be patient, it may take you two years to find one.

Good luck. It is a fine tractor. I have two of them.

Paul

I noticed this old email. Here's info to our business. We have just started replicating the 1956 and 1957 Ferguson grills. We make all 3 panels. (Centers and sides) If we can be of any help to you or anyone you know looking for these parts please let us know. We have shipped several sets of these grills all over the country.

Cool!! Thanks guys. Paul my e-mail is gwhittak@hotmail.com The only part missing is the 40 from the hood ornament. The grill screens are all there and can probably be ironed out with a little work. My main reason for buying this tractor was that my Grandfather bought a 40 new in 57. He and my Dad used it until 70 when they traded it in on a 180 MF which we still have. Dad has always wished that they had kept the 40. Now he's got one again.

first serial # is 400001 last number shown is 409015 but there is a question mark against this but no reason given. So at least 9015 were made.
