The question by Mike, 5th inquiry below, finally got me to ask about a 9 to 10" lever, rounded handle end on my TO-20. It engages the right side of the transmission housing, flush to the housing. I doubt if it is a Sherman. It has a neutral setting and when in neutral, the main shifting (1st through 4th + reverse), will not engage. I noticed this when my right foot bumped it when getting off the tractors left side. The tractor is allowed to go at a high speed in 3rd and 4th when the lever is in the up position, but when all the way down, past neutral, both wheels seem to be engaged in a lower gear ratio and I tend to creep along, not wanting to whine the gears too high. I've checked all the Ferguson manual diagrams and this lever just is not drawn, photographed or mentioned. Glad I got it, but what else can I learn about the proper use of it. Would appreciate some expert advice.

I have 54 TO30 with a lever just as you described, but on the cover plate it says Howard Reduction gear Hoes Ltd east HorndonEssex England. It will crawl in low and fly in high. Is this the same thing as a Sherman?
