A local tractor shop has a used Ferguson 35 with a loader. The tractor has been repainted and the tag on the dash that displays the serial no. has been removed. How can I tell what year the tractor is? I have a 55 TO-35 and I see many of the identical items but I know they didn't change the tractors much even after the name change to MF 35. It still has the metal emblems but the paint is faded off and I can't tell if they should be green. Thanks for any help.

It's my understanding that the MF dealers have a way to tell, based on the other numbers on the tractor. But I don't have personal experience with that. Having said that, and since you already have a 35, you know the biggest issue isn't the year but whether it is a Deluxe or not. Does it have the two stage clutch?

That is a good question. I didn't climb on the tractor to check that. I looked at it after hours and didn't mess with it too much. I should see if my key will work it and that would give me a good chance to listen to the engine and try the clutch. If anything, it has a couple of items that I would like to put on my other 35. Thanks.

If its a Coventry built FE 35 you will find the date stamps just forward of the transmission dipstick on the RHS ( looking forwards) and also on the rear of the block but in English or rather Commonwealth style such as 2 4 6 meaning 2 April 1956. Look for a CAV injector pump on either a 4 or (hopefully) 3 cylinder diesel or for Lucas electrics on a gas model.
