Colour confusion

I have this FE35 (SGM29830).
I am a little puzzled over the paint. It has red hud, seat etc., the rest is grey. But underneath the grey paint is bronze. The serial nb is the same on both the nb plate and on the transmission. Furthermore there is an additional hydraulic outlet under the seat. I dont know if its been added later.

Could anyone help me out; is it a standard FE35 or maybe a patchwork? ...and what are the correct painting for this tractor? grey/bronze or red/grey?

regards
MArk (this message was previously posted under Massey-forum)

I guess its a patched up UK gold/grey tractor. ;)
To conclude this thread I will finish with a picture of the Identified object.

According to your serial number its a 1957 model which would have Grey tin and bronze castings, they changed the colour scheme in 1957 at serial number 74656 to Red tin and Grey castings world wide, grey and bronze were only produced in UK. The hydraulic outlet you mention, is it a trailer tipping pipe, runs from front of seat to rear of tractor, steel pipe with hydraulic coupling on the end. It was an option but lots of tractors had them. SGM...standard width, gas engine 6:1 comp, dual clutch.

Early FE-35s were painted gray/bronze. From your SN, it might very well be one of those with these colors. Somone perhaps painted over the bronze with the gray. You may want to check under the red sheet metal paint to see if it is a lighter gray than the current paint on the castings.

Youre quite right Paul. The dashboard seem to be painted over. (from light grey). Then hud etc is original paintjobs though. But perhaps fitted later.
