Hi!
I've heard of an old trick whereby you drip water into the carby of a tractor, one drop at a time, and it explodes in the cylinders and shakes all the carbon loose. Does anyone know if this works, or what might happen?
Thanks!

Newguy...yes I have seen this done you have to have the engine to operating temp and at high idle then take a squirt bottle and spray a good shot in carb., the engine will lug down and the water hits the carbon flaking off and sending it out the exhaust...the problem tho is when it does come off its got to come out and sometimes sticks under a valve...thats not good.. needless to say water does no compress and can cause some real damage if you not careful...there's really no good way to remove carbon depoists in my opnion other than dissassembly....

A small amount of water over a long time will also remove carbon buildup.
