Ive got a '52 TO-30, runs really well but the hydraulics seem a bit iffy. The three point seems to lift ok but when its all the way up with an attachment on it bounces like crazy. Also when the tractor is turned off the three point drops like a rock. Ive looked in the side covers but can see no oil spray or large amounts of turbulence. Could this be an adjustment problem in the control spring or quadrant, rather than a mechanical issue such as a relief valve??

John, did you figure it out? my 51 to30 does the same thing, shakes, bounces, going down, and lately if there is an attachment on the back, tractor not running,it goes down but not fast,it goes down slowly.

Not 100% yet but for starters I checked the control spring and quadrant settings and got them where they should be. The bouncing really settled down with an attachment in the full up position. If you dont have a shop manual the site refered to by TO-35MAN has the same info. Next Ill have to dig into the relief valve which seems to be the most likely culprit for the rapid droppage issue. Good luck Jeff!

Unlikely that it will be relief valve causing that problem...it would cause it not to lift much weight if there is any fault with relief valve

I'm not the guy that asked the question. Perhaps you meant to direct your reply to him...?

Sounds like control spring needs end play removing. When you get end play in this it alters all the settings on the internal linkage. There should be no end float at all, but you should be able to turn the spring when you have an implement in the raisd position, for most settings they specified using a 2 furrow plough (2 bottom plow in USA) as this was right weight and provided the correct leverage.
