If the plate says TE not TEA its a TE20 with a Continental engine..Engine serial number will be on left side on a plate rivetted to cylinder block, between the ignition coil and the distributor and will be prefixed by "Z120" that being the model of the engine. Drawbar Horsepower quoted on the Nebraska test for this engine was 22.59. If you want a copy of the Nebraska report let me know where to send email it to.

based on serial numbers at left, it's a 1948 TE20

Whoops no wait a minute I jumped the gun. If it is a TE20 it has a Continental engine; I quoted the hp for a Standard engine which would be in a TEA20.

There are two versions of the Standard Motors engine in the TEA20. There is an 80mm version that produces 23.9hp and an 85mm version that produces 28.2hp...the 85mm version was introduced at #172599 in 1951...This was known as the TE20/85 in some markets.

It would appear that you have a late 1948 TEA 20 with a standard motors engine. The serial number is just less than the first 1949 tractor (77773) and these tractors stopped using continental engines about August or September 1948 at ser no 50,000 or so. (I assume you got the serial number off the aluminium plate below the steering wheel) Look also just forward of the back end oil dipstick on the offside rear of the tractor for a number in the cast which will give the day and date of manufacture . On the same side, numbers are cast into the engine block giving engine manufacture date. The 80mm bore standard motor developed 24 flywheel hp and about 16 PTO hp. The 85 mm developed 28/18. You can tell its a standard motor by the external oil filter ( will be vertical if engine is before feb 48 and inclined if after Feb 48)and the vertically mounted coil. There will be no air cleaner inlet on the dash like the later 85mm bore tractors.
