Today when I split the tractor I found a cicular steel item somewhat like a washer about 3/16 thick and about 2 inch in diameter with about a 3/4- 1-1/4 hole . It was broken and seems to have a keyway on one side. I found it in the bottom of the clutch housing along with a piece of spring that is about 1 inch in diameter. 3/32 cross section with hooked end. Can't see in my workshop manual anything that resembles same. Maybe I could send one of you good fellas a pic and have it recognized. Would appreciate. This is from a TEA 20-85, 1955 Harry Ferguson.

Thx. in advance.

Al.

This what you are saying sounds to me like the end of the stater moter this is quite common occurance and causes no problems. When this happens people have the starter fixed but dont split the tractor to get the rest out as it is not cost worthy.

Al,
If you can send me a pic I may be able to help. My email address is ashby @ btopenworld dot com.

Spring sounds like one of the clutch springs from the actuator plate, but the washer could be part of the thrust bearing - maybe?
