4 cyl standard diesel glow plugs

Does anyone know of a good source for glow plugs if this will not work?

My opinion: If you always park in a garage or near an electrical outlet the best is to add a
block heater in lower radiator hose.

If the tractor is left in the woods or outside in cold climate good glow plugs and good battery
will be better.

If you plan to modify to fuel heater in intake manifold if not originaly designed for this purpose modification should be hazardous...
You risk fire or explosion problems with insurance
and name it.

I'm told the glow plugs are equivalent to a Champion CH-45. They used to be available from Vapormatic, at about $38 Cdn, but no longer.

They were used in the later 23C engines. The earlier engines used the intake heater or thermostart - about $34 Cdn. This thermostart has slightly larger thread diameter than those used in the Perkins, but the Perkins units will work in a pinch.

It requires replumbing to install a fuel source. The factory unit had a fuel reserve tank - about 1/8 cup in size, MF number 188 466 M91 or 827 305 M91, plumbed into the overflow line. It was mounted on the back right tank hold-down bolt.

It's critical to have the thermostart feed line connected to the bottom fitting, otherwise the thermostart is fried from fuel starvation.

Neither thermostart nor glow plugs really help in cold weather - a block heater is almost a must. We installed a 150 or 200 w heater (NAPA or UAP?) in the lower rad hose. Works wonders - you might think about trying it first.
