Help! I have a TO20 that I'm using around the farm. Under any load at all the gas begins to boil and the gas cap sounds like a tea kettle. The temp gauge shows normal temperature. What's the problem here? Do I need a radiator flush, new thermometer, or what? Thanks!!

there have been post on this all the time and the to20 and 30 have been doing this for 50 years. if the gas is a little low half or less this will happen but you might have the wrong cap on it. but for the boiling no big thing. gas has a very low boiling point. when i worked for massey we had 35,50, 65, 85, and 90 with gas tanks over the engines that would boil the gas. look back in the posts and you will see that others asked the same question

Earl, Mine did the same. Fixed it with a combination of things: 1: Installed the correct plugs 2: Set the carb to run a little rich. 3: Cleaned gas vent (if it's whistling it is but it may need to be opened more. 4: Check timing 5: When I work it I put more gas in the tank.
Believe it or not the plug change is responsible for the fix though. Good Luck, Joe

sounds like you have a time bomb if the gas vapor is blowing out the cap. You might want to check the timming and the manifold to gas tank clearence. sounds like the manifold is heating the gas. You might need to put a heat sheild between the two. You need to check your gas cap.

Hello, The same happened to me several years ago when I first got my TE-20. It was dirty finns in the radiator. Just a bunch of fuzz from weeds.
Thanks,
James Johnson
