The gear box, hydraulics, and differential housing are all one big reservoir, six gallons. There are three drain holes, one fill hole. Drain the little holes first. Try to reach in the drains and clean out as much gunk as you can. Let it drain overnight or at least several hours, as there are baffles between the areas. Some people flush with kero or some such. Now, you will get lots of opinions on the fluid. The manual calls for 80-90 wt. mineral oil, which can be bought from the MF dealers (I believe it is #M1103). However, GL-1 gear oil, available lots of places, like NAPA and some tractor supply places, is same stuff. You are not supposed to use GL-5, which is the normal 80-90 wt. automotive gear oil but has some additives not good for your pump. The Ford #134 hydraulic fluid will work I'm told, but it is much thinner and it is not what the Fergie manual specifies, and it also leaks past seals quicker than the 90 wt. However, in a very cold climate it might be an alternative. I use Warren GL-1, which I get from a local tractor supplier for about $23 per five gallon bucket. Of course, this may or may not be what's causing your shifting problem. My intuition is that you could have some other problem, perhaps with a shift rail, etc. HTH.
