I've drained the fluid from all 3 plugs to change axle seals... By looking down thru the filler hole, I can see that things are pretty "gunked up" in there.. What's the process (if there is one) for flushing this stuff outta there?? What solvent is safe to use??

Well Chris, I have been told that diesel/kerosene are not good for the hyd. system. They have the additives that will eat your seals. Also they will stay on a bearing and cut it's life short. To be on the safe side I would and did use a good citrus cleaner. Cut it with hot water spray, as much as needed, rinse with hot water. Use a air gun to dry. Does a real good job.

Hi!
When I drained my trans axle case to change the pto, I refilled it with diesel, and then drove around for a bit to wash it around, then drained it. I did this twice, and it did the job.

When you flushed with diesel, did you fill it with 6 gallons?? How long did you drive it around??

I've used kerosene successfully. But I doubt it will flush it completely unless you go inside and scrape by hand.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try it.. I think I'm going to take Andrew's advise and use diesel and flush and drain it twice..

When I have used kerosene to flush it I have not filled the tractor, nor driven it, nor used the lift. I just flushed it and used my hand and scraper to pursuade the gunk toward the drain. I have not put kero in the pump, etc.
