I would like a front bumper on my TO-20 like the ones seen on some 8n's. The front ends look simular and I was wondering if anyone had tried to bolt up an 8n front bumper to a TO-20. Does it bolt right up or is there a little modification needed? Any input would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi
I have a To20 and a To30 both have original front bumpers that fold down. I might know where their are two in great condition. I will check if they are still there and let you know. I will also try to post pictures of mine.

Here is a picture of my 200 lb counter weight. I also have a bumper that slips in the 2 receivers that are bolted onto the front axle support houseing. The holes are allready there and I just made a plate to match and welded box steel to it and got smaller box steel to slip in them. That way it comes off like a trailer hitch. This clears the hood also. The bummper is made of 3 1/2 inch chanel steel. Mark H.

Thank you everyone for your comments. This forum is really great. I had other questions but did a search and found many of my answers. Special thanks to Ray for the picture. Hope I will some day be able to help someone else out here.

Thanks Again:

I will email you a picture of my original TO30 front bumper if I can find it tonight. It looks like Richie McGoo describes his. I know my TO30 is all original, because my father bought it new in 1953 from the Harry Stephenson Harry Ferguson dealership in Elletsville, IN. I am still friends with the mechanic who worked there and inspected the tractor with Dad at delivery time; he still remembers much about H. Ferguson tractors and I consult him whenever I get stumped.

Ray: Could you email me a picture of your TO-30 bumper? I'm curious as to whether it's the same as what I've got. Thanks!

Rich

Please post the picture of your bumper (if you can) so that all of us who've wondered what an "Original" bumper looks like (mine's not) can see. Mark, I like your counterweight bumper too!
Thanks,
Frank

I have a front bumper on my TO-20- have no idea where or what it's from. Has a mount for a hitch ball, and it doesn't interfere with the hood. Now you've got me curious as to where mine came from!

To 20s have a tilt up hood and it may hit the bumper. I have seen TO 20 bumpers that tilt forward so the hood does not hit. Other wise it may bolt to the axle OK.

Brian is correct, the hood will hit if you use a Ford bumper. I got a bumper at a tractor salvage yard that was supposed to be for a TO30. It's just a single hoop bumper without the grill protection, but when I put it on and tilted the hood forward, it hit. You could have a couple of inches of extra material welded to it to extend it out and away. That's what I'm planning to do.

I had one of those single hoop bumpers given to me and after looking it over, I decided that if I cut two pieces of 3/4 x 2 X 7" long flat iron and drilled two holes in it near the end (in about an inch) that I could move the bumper down 5" and it would clear the hood. Worked just fine. Flipped the bumper upside down though, it made the hitch an inch or so higher as it was welded on near the bottom of the bumper at the factory. Don't even look unusual to me. It would take some pretty good traction to bend the 2" iron. You hitch low on the back of tractor to pull downward to give you traction but on the front, I don't think it matters much.
