HELP!!! Ignition problem

I recently installed an electronic ignition kit which I purchased from Genesee Products on my 1949 TEA-20 Ferguson. Now I can't get a spark at the plugs when the engine is turning. I do get a spark when I turn off the ignition switch, which tells me that the coil is charged and the cap and rotor are in good shape (brand new).

I've converted the electrics to 12 volt negative ground with no trouble. The points were working before I converted to electronic. The tractor ran well. I was tired of cleaning and gapping because I have a front loader installed and reaching the distributor is a task in itself.

Let me say that this is the second kit I've installed because I sent the first one back thinking it was defective. Same problem.

Andy at Genesee is probably the most patient and helpful person on this earth. I've corresponded through email at least 10 times and on the phone and he's been most helpful. This problem seems to be beyond the scope of normal experience or logic.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Is it possible thatyou have to have it turning faster to trigger the circuit? I mean if it's a Hall effect you would have to have the wee magnet going by the sensor with some speed at least.
I know it sounds too simple but sometimes it's the simple stuff we overlook.

Check that you get 12v at pos. side of coil when cranking. Have you done anything to the starter solenoid if equipped?

I haven't used the starter. I'm just turning the motor over by hand. I should get a spark as the magnet passes the sensor. I'm getting a spark when I cut the ignition swich off so I know that the coil is charged.

what is the name brand of ignitor? Are you sure it is installed correctly?

It's Pertronix. Built to fit this distributor. I've gotten confirmation that it's installed correctly.

Wire should run from ignition switch to + side of
coil,red wire from ignitor to + side of coil black wire from ignitor to - side of coil.
Also can I get the Pertonics part# I want to install one on my TO20?

My part number is LU-145. This is for a Lucas distributor. Genesee Products sells the Pertronix brand kit made specifically for your tractor. They are listed at left.

Do me a favor and tell Andy I sent you. He'll get a kick out of that!
