On my 1948 TE20 I have updated pto shaft, fixing to install new axle seals and transmission input seal should I stay with 80 weight mineral oil or just go ahead and use 80/90. All these seals have been ordered from massey ferguson dealer and all are rubber seals. Going to flush the whole system with kerosene in a garden spray before installing oil. Pete

A Massey Mechanic said to stay with the Mineral Oil, thats what I use in my TO-30 and has been used by the owner befor. No problems with it and I can lift 1,300 lbs and the lift stays up for almost 2-days befor it starts going down. Mark H.

I have been told by alot of people that kerosene is the worse thing you can use to clean with. It leaves a film that will eat up bearings and seals. Citrus cleaner is best to use. Cuts the build up and will rinse clean.

A few years ago I was working in a paper mill. We used citrus based cleaner for degreasing around the paper machines. We had to be careful not to get it on painted surfaces as it faded the paint quite noticeably. It also did such a great job of stripping grease and oil that bare metal parts began to rust almost immediately. Perhaps we should look into what is the optimal method of flushing out our old tractors. I have used diesel fuel to flush mine out in the past but will investigate before doing it again.
thanks
