I need a little help in identifying my tractor. I have a wide front end 340. It has metal plates rivited to the hood which says international. But it kind of looks like they dont line up with the holes in the hood.

My tractor has the Cast Iron Centers for the rear wheels and the rears are the 12.4 x 36 size. The muffler goes out the hood and the lights are mounted on the sides of the gas tank.

From what I can tell in the book, the features I described above fit the description of a FARMALL and not an International 340.

But when I look in my manual the Farmal 340 pictures are all tricycle front end, whereas mine is a wide.

Can anyone help me know which one I have and would one version be more valuable than the other.

Thanks

One more comment. My front axle is the swept back and adjustable. I have looked at all of the photos on the site, but mine looks like a cross between the farmall and the international. Does anyone know if they made a Farmall 340 with the swept back adjustable front axle ????

It looks like my tractor is a FARMALL with an original wide adjustable front end. Does anyone know how rare this one was in the 340 line. My serial number is around 5100.

Look at the serial number tag. It should say "F-340" for a Farmall, or "I-340" for an International.

The 340 should have long rectangular stamped tags on the side of the hood Mccormick in small letters above Farmall in big letters. Tires are 36" x 13.9" . I believe on the serial tag it also says farmall there. Good luck the dealer says they cant tell one from the other.

Try the tractor photos on the left side of the paper. You should be able to tell which matches your tractor. My understanding was the International model was the lower profile utility model and it had a fixed wheel width, the "Farmall" stood taller for row crop work and the wheel width was adjustable. I'm sure others can further clarify.

Do you sit up on top of the transmission platform or ahead of the wheels with your legs straddle the trans?
