I recently found a bean picker mounted on a farmall tractor. There are no emblems on the tractor only on the bean picker which says Chisolm-Ryder Bean. Could it possibly be a 340 high clearance? Was able to get a partial serial number but have only recently ordered the serial number book. The serial number as best I could get it is Ser No 14280 SYCR 703. It has a 4 cylinder gas engine. Can anybody give me more information on this particular tractor?

Been searching the web for the same. In the 60's we had a 340 and a 504 Chisolm Rider bean picker. The 504 was awesome for picking. You wouldn't happen to have a picture ?

i have a 240 farmall that may have been a bean harvester. it has yellow paint under the red/white repaint, no badges at all, no fast hitch but has 3 hydraulic levers all on the side of the dash, and an apparently homemade seat support. other 240s i've seen have the fast hitch control under the seat. a friend from the finger lakes area said that 240s were used under stringbean harvesters.
between the 240, 340, and 504, only the 504 had a serial no that hit 5 digits.

Earl: I know a lot of 504 Farmalls were turned into Chism Ryder Bean pickers. A quick way to tell difference between 340 and 504; 340 will have horizontal grill bars while 504 will have vertical grill lines.
