I recently replaced the hyd pump on my 1066 when the steering quit working. Now that its all back together whenever the oil get warm the tractor acts like the clutch is slipping. Steering and brakes stay working. Operating pressure stays up but the tractor wimps out without lugging down or spining its wheels and if you don't stuff the clutch it will start lunging like it low on oil (which it isn't). Put a guage on where the light hooks into the MCV and got a 0 reading. Can anyone help me? Its a gear drive w/TA and a boost on the clutch rod. Thanx

If ya have no pressure at the teltale and ya had the MCV off are you sure that you have all the NEW o/rings in place ??? ya sure that you did not miss putting one in could be a blowen gskt . If ya don't know what your doing best ya find someone close to work on it as ya have already slipped her and i would say ta may also not have the dump valeset or clutch linkage set correctly . as if it was not slipping before and now it is ya got something screwed up.

Thanx vet for the quick response. I do have the best local mech that is available, but he's a trained Deere man. What should the pressure be at the light? Also how important is the spring on the control rod on the dump valve. Mine doesn't look OEM, but it was working before we had to change the pump. Thanx again. I really appreciate what you do here.

Lube pressure at the sending unit somewhere between 10-15 lbs pressure at the bottom plug on the lower leftshould be anywhere from 235-285 myself i like it around 265-275 on a 1066 . If your working with a Deere man that ya had better find a Half arres Red man . My thinking is that ya got a seal or gskt either blowen or not installed . usualy someone that does not know Red tractors and removes the mCV ALWAYS forget to install the O/ RING down on the bottom left as they installed a new gskt but for got the O/RING and almost as soon as ya fire the tractor it blows the gskt then also the loose the SUMP CHECK PLUG AND SPRING OR JUST THE SPRING , this littel spring looks somewhat like a ball point pen spring and it goes on the lower righside behind the MCV. It is best to leave the RED tractors to the RED MECHAICS just like i leave the green tractors to the guys with the yellow stained shorts.

Thanx vet. Unfortunately the nearest red mech is about 10 hrs drive from here, and although my mech was trained by deere he's seen the inside of them all. In the end we pulled the mcv again and actually found that it was a gasket problem. We hadn't compared new gasket to old gasket and the new gasket was missing one journal path. Part numbers checked out but the gasket was just wrong. Anyway new gasket on the way. I wanted to confirm though. That plug on the lower left is the one right under the oil cooler lines? Thanx for your help.

You're trying to mix apples and oranges.

If it is slipping, it's slipping. Put a clutch in it.
