I'm considering buying a Dexta but not sure if it meets my needs. Could it manage a small rotovator or is the pto speed or the power not up to it? The rotovator would only be used for shallow/surface cultivation.

Also its been fed on easy start for years and oil oozes slowly out of the dipstick hole when engine running. Is this likely to be a good buy?

John, You never said how much they want for it, for us to determine if it's a good buy. By all the oozing going on like you describe. It sounds like you are going to have to give the old girl an overhaul. Now that's not too much of a job for some, but if you have no experience at it, it can be tough. Now you have to ask yourself some questions. If you need help just holler and I know there's a plenty on this board that will help. See ya.

I agree with Capp. Ever Perkins engine I ever tore down that was puking out the dipstick had a busted piston.

And ever Perkins I ever saw that had ether used on it did the same thing. They bust the side of the piston beside the compression ring. If ye catch it soon enough sometimes the sleeve will still be okay but most times the sleeve will hairline crack or egg shape too.

As far as the tiller yes the Dexta has plenty of power and is geared slow enough to use a tiller real good.
