I have recently got approval for my eagle scout project. My project consists of getting a 1927 model F Fordson to run. It is in fair condition. The engine has compresion, the radiator is good, and it is all there. I am unsure if the worm drive is any good. Someone tried to pull the tractor to start it a while back and that may have damaged it. If there would be anybody in the Wichita Kansas area that could offer any expertise to me I would appreciate it.

Are there any good sights that I could learn more about the coils?

If you end up needing the rear end parts let me know I have them. Jonathan (JJK Tractor Salvage)

Frank, sounds like a great opportunity. Make the most of it. The ignition system on the early Fordsons is the same as that of the Model T Ford automobiles. You might perform an internet search on "Ford Model T Coil" or "Model T Ford Coil" and see if there is more technical information there. The coils and plugs and timing mechanisms are common to both tractors and cars. Depending on whether you retain posession of the tractor after your project is complete, you might want to locate a copy of an owners/operators manual. They are occasionally available on Ebay.

For rear end parts, I only know of two places that sell Fordson parts. There are probably others, but here they are:

Fordson House
Escanaba, MI
(906)786-5120

Rosewood Machine & Tool
Rosewood, OH
(937)362-3871

Best of luck to you.
