Many moons ago, I was out with my Dad while he wired a Standby genset for a dairy farmer. There was a Super Major sitting in the yard and as I watched, the local Ford dealer pulled in with a New 6000 Ford on the truck. He got it off the truck with a great flourish and the farmer was watching all this with great interest. His wife came across the yard screaming "HERBERT, this thing better be as good as that old blue bas----" Herbert looked at the dealer and said Let's chain em up, sonny. I watched my first tractor pull with my mouth open. There was a rude noise out of the 6000 and a whole lot of white smoke. HERBERT helped him get it back on his truck and he drove away. That old blue bas---- is still working, nearly 40 years later.

Tom,
Sounds like the first 5000 tractors. We have a saying "could not pull a sitting hen off its nest" or "could not pull the skin off a rice pudding". When demonstrating the 5000 and 4000 side by side you had to throttle back the 4000 as it would really show how bad the 5000 really was.
regards
Brian
