Is there any simple way to tell if the mag. on a 1926 Fordson is putting out any voltage?

put a voltmetre lead on the output terminal on top of the flywheel, ground the other lead to the tractor and spin the crank. The needle (analog) or the l.e.d. display (digital) should move or change to indicate a output of volts.

There is a terminal on the left side of the flywheel housing. I assume a wire goes from this terminal to the coil box. I will use this terminal to attach the meter lead to. Thanks for your response.

yes, that is the output. you can unhook that wire leading to your coil box then wire in a 6 volt lantern battery to the spot where that wire attaches to the coil box and ground the other end to the tractor and then you should hear your coils buzzing as you crank it.If your magneto is bad, you can run it this way also
